Finance internship available!
We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an intern at our organization. As a not-for-profit organization focused on youth, our mission is to empower individuals to embark on transformative journeys of self-discovery through shared adventures in the natural world. The Head Office team plays a crucial role in our organization, handling various responsibilities such as marketing, communications, funding, finance, and course enrolments. They provide support and services to our Board of Directors, Foundation, and supporters network.
In this role, you will work closely with the Assistant Accountant to gain practical experience in core finance activities. This includes tasks related to accounts receivable and payable, cash flow management, general ledger reconciliations, and potentially some profit and loss and balance sheet work. Your main objective will be to develop a comprehensive understanding of finance functions and acquire essential skills as you begin your career.
Additionally, you will contribute to the finance team’s efforts in providing timely, accurate, and effective operations to the entire organization. This internship will provide you with a structured learning experience lasting between 10 and 12 weeks. You will be based in a modern office situated in central Auckland.

- Banking and cashflow, covering daily bank transactions through to month end reconciliations
- Accounts Receivable transactions, looking at Income in advance (exonet (financial) v obtains (CRM))
- Accounts Payable, entering invoices, preparing payment runs and dealing with creditor enquiries
- Scholarship Funding, from transacting requests through to end of month Foundation reconciliations
- Possible Involvement in some financial modelling, P&L and Balance Sheet work
- Possible reconciling and filing GST returns
- the intention is to provide this opportunity to other interns and part of your responsibility will be to pass on your training to the next intern where appropriate
