This New Zealand Internships page contains
answers to commonly asked questions about our Internship
program. If you cannot find your question here, please
feel free to contact our New Zealand
Internships support team. Our friendly team will be more than happy
to assist you.
How much does the New Zealand
Internships programme cost?
At New Zealand Internships we have a fee-based
professional internship program. Our program
includes your internship placement, arrangement of long-term
housing (Auckland), assistance with your Visa (international
students) and insurance, airport transfers (optional). Check the
internship package page for prices.
When can I start?
You choose when your internship abroad starts
and finishes. We generally need at least 4 weeks to process your
application, but we encourage you to apply as soon as you have
decided to go. If you decide last minute, you can still contact us
and we will try our best to arrange an internship
for you.
What is the support like overseas?
Our team finds your internship, check out your
accommodation, will meet you at the airport and provide you with
any support needed during your placement. In addition, we organize
social activities that you can join. You will also have a
supervisor at your work.
Do I need any previous experience?
No. All you need is the enthusiasm and drive to
succeed in your chosen field. That said, relevant experience in
your field prior to the internship may help impress your
employer.
Is there a minimum/maximum age?
Participants should be over the age of 18. Most applicants are
under 30. If you are above 30, please contact us.
Are flights included?
No, flights to/from New
Zealand are not included. However we can give you advice
about them.
Where are your internships located in New
Zealand?
Our internships are mainly located in
Auckland. However, we place interns all over the
country. (Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown etc.)
Are these internships paid?
Most of our internships are unpaid. Some host
organisations choose to assist with transport costs to and from
work. However, this is at the discretion of each organisation. All
interns are required to show sufficient funds to support themselves
for the duration of their internship.
Do I need to apply for a visa?
Yes. If you are an overseas
student you will have to apply for a Visa. Your contact
person at New Zealand Internships will assist you with this.
What are the health preparations that I need to carry
out?
There are no vaccinations required for a trip to New
Zealand. Either that said, it is always recommended that
you see your physician or preferably a travel medicine clinic
doctor at least 4-6 weeks prior to your departure.
Can I receive credits for my University through a
placement with New Zealand
Internships?
Yes, most of our interns are completing the
compulsory practical component of their university studies.
New Zealand Internships will assist with the
necessary documents for your university to ensure that you gain
credit for your internship completed in New
Zealand.
